It's all rubbish.
When working in environmental conservation it became all too clear to me just how fragile and precious our planet is and how, as consumers, we all have the responsibility to make smart decisions to limit our impact on the worlds natural finite resources.
After a decade in the industry my research brought my attention to one of the worst offending sectors for waste - the beauty industry. Only a staggeringly small 9% of the 120 billion units produced by the beauty industry each year make it to recycling and I couldn't get this ugly figure out of my mind.
I knew that the core of the problem didn't lie solely with the consumer, but with the marketing giants who encourage people to act without conscious thought and instead promote over-consumption by using targeted marketing which initiates impulse purchases.
I understood this cycle all too well.
As someone with sensitive and fussy skin I struggled to maintain a healthy balance and the search for solutions found me buying endless products from companies claiming to have the desired results but sadly this wasn't always the case and I ended up with shelves of unused products, which weighed me down with guilt every time I saw them. I lost faith in all products and eventually stopped using any skincare at all and guess what? Only then did I start to see improvement in the health of my skin!
This revelation went against everything I was being told by cosmetic companies but I began to see through the smoke and mirrors and concluded that my skin was simply happier when I stripped back my skincare routine to a bare minimum and focused instead on a few products, with simple but effective ingredients.
This was the reason I was motivated to create a brand that offered simple solutions for sensitive skin. A brand that encouraged a shift in mindset and a brand that offered a more sustainable alternative.
Because enough is enough, in every sense of the word.
Our choices.
The foundations for yearth. come from a deep love and desire to protect our planet for future generations.
We are led by a simple ethos;
To do no harm. To take only what we need and to give back.
Which is why we have only a capsule range of products, designed to work on multiple levels, consciously made with sustainable and upcycled ingredients. It is also the reason why we donate a portion of the profits to conservation charities.
We don't believe in multi-step beauty routines. We don't believe in unnecessary packaging. We don't believe in overconsumption.
We believe in planet over profit. We believe in circular, not linear. We believe in buying less, buying better.
Our mission.
I would like to invite you to join me on my mission to tread lightly on the earth, by making small swaps everyday that lead to a more conscious way of life. Perhaps question your consumerism, challenge your will-power and buy only what you need. Simplify your skincare routine, go make-up free, embrace the journey, spend more time outdoors and do something for nature today.
Forever grateful,
our mantra
buy less. buy better
At yearth. we know just how much our daily choices impact the earth and contribute to climate change which is why we are here to encourage you to 'Buy less. Buy better'. When you commit to consuming less life not only becomes more fulfilling but we experience less stress. Together we can stop over consumption of the earths natural resources and reduce our environmental impact. Choose wisely my friends.
