Bisabolol is an anti-irritant in sensitive skin products which has soothing and has anti-redness properties

Bisabolol is traditionally extracted from the Candeia tree in the Amazon Rainforest, with a substantial environmental cost. Because of this we choose to use nature identical Bisabolol, the highest purity available on the market today, that protects the Brazilian biodiversity by preserving the natural resources of the candeia tree.

Our nature identical Bisabolol has the same profile and formulation properties, with the same efficacy as natural Bisabolol but without the environmental damage.

INCI: Rubus Fruticosus Seed Oil
ORIGIN: Europe

Oh how we love this oil. It’s just delicious smelling and so deeply nourishing. It is produced from the waste seeds leftover after the berries have been used for juicing or jam. Blackberries are naturally high in vitamin C & E which help to repair and restore the skin. It is also high linoleic (omega-6) which helps aid the skin in retaining moisture, and linolenic (omega-3) which helps to regulate the skin's oil production, improve balanced hydration, subdue breakouts and minimise signs of aging. Omega-3s can also help soften rough, dry skin and have a soothing effect.

Blackberry Seed Oil is a golden to amber oil that has a nutty, fruity aroma. Like all fruit oils, its color comes from antioxidants—in this case, alpha and gamma Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Ellagitannins and Phytosterols which can be helpful in repairing skin barrier function and useful in products designed for mature skin.

INCI: Ribes Nigrum Seed Oil

Blackcurrant seed oil is a superstar oil. Its high GLA (gamma-linoleic acid) content helps to fight inflammation, hydrate and restore the skin.

It has a clear, pale yellow to golden colour and a strong aroma with the sweet scent of fresh blackcurrants. It's literally delicious to sniff!

It can help soothe dry and irritated skin and is another hero from our upcycled range of fruit oils, being produced from the waste seeds of the juicing and jam industries.

Camellia seed oil, or more commonly referred to as 'Green tea oil' is a lightweight, non-comedogenic oil with astringent properties making it useful in the treatment of problematic skin. Packed full of polyphenols, it offers excellent tightening and toning properties whilst soothing and smoothing skin. It is an high in essential fatty acids and is an excellent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and moisturising oil. It is a very unique feeling oil which we love to use in our formulas, it absorbs rapidly and skin feels epic afterwards. We wouldn't be without this one now.

INCI: Ricinus Communis Seed Oil
ORIGIN: India

Castor oil is extracted from the seeds of the Ricinus communis plant, a native plant to tropical areas of Asia and Africa. In soap Castor oil is a wonderful addition, promoting the formation of bubbles and helping to sustain lather. It's a soap-makers secret ingredient.

These teeny tiny seeds pack a mighty punch! Recognised as a superfood when consumed as part of a healthy diet - who would have thought that inside those seeds is a magical oil capable of transforming problem skin! The seeds have very high nutritional value for both the body when taken internally or as an oil when applied to your skin. Referred to as 'The Ultimate Oil' due to its exceptionally high Omega 3 content and rich essential fatty acid profile. This oil will calm irritation, soothe the skin, protect from further damage, repair the skin barrier and boost cell renewal. It really does it all and we love it. It's also part of our upcycled portfolio which gives it even more brownie points!

INCI:Vaccinium Macrocarpon Seed Oil

Cranberry seed oil is gorgeous. The aroma of the berries is carried over through the production process and adds a sweetness to any formulation its added to. The seeds are a byproduct of the juicing industry and are cold-pressed to extract the precious oil.

It is rich in tocotrienols and tocopherols which are the two groups of molecules that make up Vitamin E as well as other important antioxidants which make this a useful oil to protect and repair skin.

Rich in omega 3, 6, and 9 essential fatty acids- in a balanced ratio found in no other oil. Also rich in Vitamin A which makes it naturally regenerating.

INCI: Cocos nucifera Oil
ORIGIN:Philippines

Coconut oil is an essential ingredient in the production of cold process soap. It is responsible for the bubbly lather and has excellent cleansing properties, and makes a very hard bar.

Caprylic/capric triglyceride is a mixture of fatty acids derived from coconut oil, and sometimes from palm although ours is certified palm-free and derived solely from coconuts. It is a lightweight, non-greasy emollient that helps to moisturise and soften the skin. It is quick to absorb and is particularly useful in body oils where a dry feeling is required. It forms a protective barrier on the skin's surface, preventing moisture loss and leaving the skin feeling smooth and hydrated.

INCI: Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil
ORIGIN: Europe

A light green oil which is pressed from the seeds of various varieties of Vitis vinifera grapes, an abundant by-product of wine-making.

The oil is rich in linoleic acid, flavonoids and antioxidants which all help to regenerate the skin and protect cell membranes from damage.

It contains a vast array of vitamins and minerals including Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, B6 and Vitamin E!

INCI: Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil
ORIGIN: Israel

Pronounced 'ho-ho-ba' oil. Jojoba Oil is very similar in composition to the skin's natural oils or sebum which makes it an excellent emollient and moisturiser for all types of skin. It balances oil production and calms overactive skin. It offers occlusive properties which means it slows down Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) and this is because jojoba is actually a liquid wax and forms a protective barrier on top of the skin. It is high in vitamins B and E and suitable for all skin but especially useful for acneic skin or irritated skin. We chose cold-pressed, organic Jojoba oil for our formulations

INCI: Mangifera Indica Seed Butter
ORIGIN: India

The Mango Butter we use in our cold process soaps is made by tribal smallholders across the remote forest villages of India. The mango kernels which are discarded after stripping the fruit are bought directly from them and then upcycled into the amazing versatile butter which is full of antioxidants, vitamins A, C, & E and essential fatty acids. 

The collaboration with smallholders helps to improve their livelihoods while supporting traditional ways of life. They focus on forest protection and environmentally friendly harvesting and production. No pesticides are ever used on the mangoes and no chemical fertilisers are used on the soil. The fruit are handpicked or collected from the forest floor and no chemicals are added during processing.

INCI: Olea Europaea Fruit Oil
ORIGIN: Spain

The olive oil that we use is derived from olives that do not make the grade for food production and are upcycled into the wonderfully nourishing oil which we like to use as a main ingredient in our cold process soaps. In soaps olive oil is very gentle and moisturising and produces a lovely hard bar of soap.

Olive oil contains three major antioxidants; vitamin E, polyphenols, & phytosterols, all of which aid in maintaining skin strength and smoothness. Further to this it contains a compound called Hydroxytyrosol, which helps prevent free radical damage to the skin.

INCI: Punica Granatum Seed Oil
ORIGIN: Turkey

It takes over 500kg of fresh pomegranates to produce just 1kg of oil but the seeds are collected as a by-product of the juicing industry and transformed into this incredible oil.

Being rich in Omega-5 and ellagic acid, it is hydrating and soothing and a potent phenol antioxidant which can help to protect and brighten the skin. It may also help to protect the skin from premature aging, promote regeneration of the epidermis and stimulates collagen production to keep skin looking smooth, firm and youthful.

INCI: Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate

This emulsifier is derived from Sunflower seed oil, Rapeseed or Castor Oil. It is COSMOS approved and Natrue certified and we like to use it in our Cleansing oil to assist in the rinse off, creating an oil-to-milk solution.

INCI: Oryza Sativa Bran Oil
ORIGIN: Mexico

Rice bran oil is essentially an upcycled oil, a by-product of the rice milling industry.

It is a very unique oil as it contains different kinds of Vitamins B and E, making it a complex and wholesome ingredient for your skin offering anti-ageing, smoothing, softening and hydrating properties.

It contains three healthy antioxidants (tocopherol, tocotrienol and oryzanol) which do a great job at fighting damaging free radicals and repairing damaged cells and also contains coenyzme q10 which helps to increase the elasticity of your skin by encouraging collagen production and cell-renewal.

The benefits for this oil are vast and we love it!

INCI: Rosa canina Seed Extract, Rosmarinus officinalis Leaf Extract
ORIGIN: Europe

Rosehip is amongst the best vegetable oil sources of omega 3 and is also a good source of omega 6, both essential fatty acids involved in cellular membrane and tissue regeneration. The oil is useful at normalising skin with large pores. It has soothing and nourishing properties for even the most sensitive skin. It is high in GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid) which is essential in fighting inflammation. A potent active which is a fabulous addition to our facial oils.

INCI: Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract
ORIGIN: Europe

We use Rosemary CO2 extract to protect the precious oils in our products. Antioxidants are important additives in cosmetic formulations for increasing their shelf life and to help to protect the oils from going rancid which can happen once they are exposed to light and oxygen. This is also why we use amber bottles for our facial oils as it offers better protection from oxidation. This Antioxidant is more stable than Vitamin E and has a slightly herby smell which compliments the natural oils beautifully.

Sea Buckthorn is renowned for its ability to promote wound healing, cell rejuvenation and collagen production.
This Organic Sea Buckthorn CO2 Extract has added Rosemary Antioxidant to help prevent the oil from spoiling.

It has excellent anti-inflammatory properties which make it a great ingredient to use in formulas designed for people with problematic skin such as eczema or psoriasis. 

The oil contains 30% palmitoleic acid along with high levels of vitamins A & E and other Bio-active substances, which all aid to protect the skin against free radicals and ageing.

Strawberry seed oil is amazing. It smells like strawberries (which I guess is no surprise) and is a dream oil for your skin. It's packed with essential fatty acids and Ellagic Acid, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory antioxidant which helps preserve and boost collagen and protects your skin from environmental stressors, such as pollution and UV rays.

It deeply moisturises, improves skin elasticity, and helps restore the softness and suppleness of the skin and we think it's fruity-fabulous.

Soy wax is a 100% natural wax derived from the vegetable soybeans. We source our soy wax from Europe from a supplier that is deforestation-free and is sustainably grown, and have strict ecological credentials.

After the beans are harvested, they are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and any remaining flakes are futher processed into animal feed which makes this a zero-waste option. It is natural, renewable, biodegradable and vegan and it makes a wonderfully hard, long-lasting and moisturising bar of soap.

Squalane is a botanical lipid, extracted as a by-product from the olive oil industry. It has a molecular structure that is very similar to our skin which means it is well-tolerated by all skin types. This natural affinity with the skin means it is rapidly absorbed, lightweight, leaves no greasy residue and provides antioxidant protection. It is also a super hydrator as it locks in moisture which leads to softer, smoother skin and it also helps to protect the skin barrier. It's a fabulous upcycled ingredient and you'll find it in our concentrated facial oils.

Vitamin E, as mixed tocopherols, is an excellent antioxidant and is added to our products to protect the precious oils from spoilage. The oil can be extracted from soybean and other similar crops but the variety we use it extracted from sunflower seeds. It has the added benefit of also providing the skin with that same antioxidant protection and you will see this included in all of our skincare products.

INCI: Sodium Hydroxide
ORIGIN: Europe/China

Sodium Hydroxide, also known as Caustic Soda, the essential ingredient in natural soap making. It's used in soap making to enable the process of saponification to occur - a chemical reaction between an acid (in this case fatty acids from oils and fats) and a base (sodium hydroxide). This reaction results in the formation of soap molecules and glycerol. So essentially, sodium hydroxide acts as a vital catalyst in turning oils into soap.

INCI: Sodium Gluconate
ORIGIN: Europe

Sodium gluconate is produced by fermentation of glucose syrup which is derived from maize. After a crystallisation step, sodium gluconate is separated from the mother liquor by centrifugation, the crystals are then dried.

We use Sodium Gluconate in our soaps to help prevent rancidity of the fatty acids (oils and butters) in the soap, helping to extend the life of each bar and it also acts as a chelating agent which means it is able to bind to metal ions which cause of soap scum in the sink or shower. A small amount of this chelator makes such a difference to those of us with hard water.

Being fully biodegradable and non-toxic, it represents an environment friendly alternative to the common chelating agents used in cosmetics such as EDTA.

INCI:Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour
ORIGIN: UK

Colloidal oatmeal is very gentle on the skin making it suitable for all skin types but in particular sensitive skin. When used in soap colloidal oatmeal can create a protective layer over skin, acting as a barrier to retain moisture and keep irritants out. It can also help to relieve itchy or dry skin. It s a great gentle exfoliator for sensitive skin.

Made from a specific variety of Avena sativa, which is selected for its higher content of 1,3 – 1,4 beta-D-glucan which has proven moisturising properties.

It is considered hypo-allergenic and non-irritant and is readily biodegradable under environmental conditions.

INCI: Olea Europaea Seed Powder
ORIGIN: Spain

The leftover stones from the olive production are ground into a fine powder and added to our soaps to provide gritty exfoliation and are a sustainable alternative to micro beads or chemical exfoliants that do not biodegrade and contribute towards environmental pollution.

INCI: Charcoal Activated Medicinal
ORIGIN: UK

Our charcoal is the by-product of the coconut industry. The leftover husks are fired and turned into charcoal which generates additional income for farmers and means that the whole process is zero waste, with each part of the coconut being used. When added to soap charcoal acts as a magnet for dirt and helps to draw impurities from the skin, and providing a very gently exfoliation experience.

INCI: Bixa Orellana Seed

Rich in Bixin, the original Annatto seeds come from the Achiote tree, and are then ground down into a Bright rusty coloured powder. We use the powder to colour our soaps with yellow to orange shades.

INCI: Cocos Nucifera

Coconut powder is a wonderful addition to soaps. It imparts a luxurious softness and contributes to a very gentle bar of soap but also has excellent deep cleansing abilities. A perfect choice for sensitive, dry or damaged skin.

Rice starch is a wonderful cosmetic ingredient. Derived from the broken grains of rice that are unstuitable for use in teh food industry - their loss is our gain! It is wonderfully soothing to sensitive skin types, as well as working wonders on skin prone to overproduction of sebum or acne as it is useful at absorbing this excess oil and balancing the complexion. It provides gentle exfoliation and can help to even out skin tone when used regularly which is one of several reasons why we have chosen to include it in our 2-in-1 mask and scrub Renewal Time.

This fragrant delight of an ingredient is one of several powerful powders that we use in our face mask and scrub Renewal Time. Rose petals are naturally anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and contain antioxidants which makes them useful in treatment of problematic skin. They also smell wonderful, like a summers walk through a rose garden....ahhhhhhh, and relax......

This upcycled powder is made from the discarded shells of rosehips which have been used to produce oil. They are dried and then ground into teeny tiny particle size which makes them a perfect addition to our Renewal Time face mask and scrub. They pack a powerful punch of vitamin C, which is vital to support aging skin, and also promotes cellular turnover and assists in the formation of collagen. It's a keeper!

Chamomile, most well-known perhaps as a calming drink is also incredibly beneficial to the skin. It is a wonderful anti-inflammatory and this can be beneficial for sensitive skin types, or those with acneic skin. We include this in our Renewal Time face mask for its soothing and calming properties.

Sorbitol is a humectant which means that improves the skins ability to hold in moisture, drawing it to the surface of the skin to help plump and hydrate. We include this in our Renewal Time 2-in-1 face mask and scrub and find it a very effective ingredient to give instant results.

In soap sorbitol boosts lather and improves overall perfomance which is why we've included it in every one of our soap bars. It makes such a bubbly difference -and who doesn't love bubbles!!

Sodium lactate is a sodium salt of lactic acid that has several uses within cosmetics. It acts as a moisturiser and skin exfoliant and is produced by the fermentation of a sugar source, such as maize or beets, and then, by neutralizing the resulting lactic acid to create a compound having the formula NaC3H5O3.

We use this in our soaps to contribute towards a hard bar but also as it contributes to keeping our bars gentle and non-drying to the skin.

The beatine we use is upcycled from the waste stream of the sugar industry. It is a natural amino acid and offers sseveral skin benefits. It is sustainably sourced, natural ingredient that acts as a humectant - drawing water into the skin and leaving it plump, soft and dewy. We love this ingredient and have included it in our Renewal Time 2-in-1 face mask and scrub.

Allantoin is a naturally occurring compound found in many plants and animals and is widely used in the cosmetics industry for its excellent skincare properties including being an anti-irritant and excellent moisturiser. The allantoin we use is nature identical meaning it is chemically identical to the natural ingredient but is synthetically created in a lab. Extracting allantoin from a natural source such as that found in the Comfrey plant, isn't sustainable so it is chemically synthesized to meet global demand. Its an incredible ingredient for hard to treat skin conditions which is why it is fabulous for senstive skin and you'll find this in our face mask and scrub - Renewal Time.
